President’s Letter – March 2024
Dear SDHBA Friends and Family,
I hope this month’s letter finds you healthy and busy and enjoying our easy winter in comparison to the years past.
We recently held our winter board meeting, where we discussed important matters regarding our association’s foundation. Additionally, we teamed up with the Retailers association and title companies for a chili oyster feed. During this event, we had the opportunity to chat with state legislators and express our concerns about ongoing bills in the house and senate. Our legislative committee, led by Peter, works diligently to ensure that the legislation passed benefits both our industry and homeowners.
Our Executive board also had a strategic planning session with a guest from NAHB. Details of this plan will be shared soon, so keep an eye out for updates. If your local organization is interested in similar strategic planning, NAHB is available to offer assistance at little to no cost.
I recently attended the International Builders Show in Las Vegas, and I’m excited to share the insights gained. The show featured an immense convention center with over 1.1 million square feet of booths showcasing innovative ideas for homes. It was truly impressive! Behind the scenes, the federation (including NAHB, State Associations, and Local Associations) worked tirelessly during the week. Various subcommittees met to discuss and report on industry-related matters, ensuring our interests are protected.
One of the highlights for me was witnessing the strong representation of our state and local associations. Our representatives actively participate in multiple committees and are well-respected on a national level. They truly make a difference, and we should take pride in their contributions.
Thank you all for your support this year. I’m committed to visiting every local association and appreciate everything you do to enhance our industry.
