Be Pro Be Proud
Be Pro Be Proud – South Dakota
The South Dakota Home Builders Association is excited to work toward partnering with Be Pro Be Proud to bring a Mobile Workforce Center to life right here in South Dakota. This one-of-a-kind semi-trailer is more than just a traveling exhibit—it’s a hands-on experience designed to introduce students to the wide range of rewarding careers available in the skilled trades. By putting interactive simulators and real-world applications directly in front of students, we have a unique opportunity to change perceptions and open doors to career paths that are in high demand across our state.
What makes this initiative especially meaningful is the scale of its impact. The goal is for the Mobile Workforce Center to visit every middle school and high school in South Dakota each school year. That means reaching students in every corner of the state—from our largest communities to our smallest rural towns—ensuring equal access to career exploration opportunities. For many students, this may be their first exposure to careers in construction and the building industry, and it has the potential to spark interest that leads to lifelong, well-paying professions.
This effort wouldn’t be possible without the strong support of our association members and generous donors across South Dakota. Bringing this semi to life requires a true statewide commitment, and it’s inspiring to see the industry come together with a shared purpose: building the future workforce. From financial contributions to advocacy and awareness, every piece of support plays a role in making this vision a reality.
SDHBA is proud to be part of a movement that not only supports our industry but also invests in the next generation. We believe this initiative will strengthen our workforce pipeline, support local economies, and help students discover meaningful career opportunities right here at home. We look forward to seeing the Be Pro Be Proud Mobile Workforce Center on the road and making a lasting impact in communities across South Dakota.
